Sometimes it takes a comedian to make some sense of what is going on in the political arena. What attracted my attention to this episode is the thought provocation punchline: You don’t really love America if you hate half the people in it! Democracy only works when the majority of Americans put our country before partisan politics.
Real Time with Bill Maher is an American television that airs weekly on HBO. Much like his previous series, Real Time features guests who discuss current events in politics and the media. Unlike his previous series, his current guests are usually better informed on the subject matters. More journalists, professors, and politicians, and fewer actors and celebrities are featured on his current show.
In this episode, he made fun of the ridiculous level of partisan politics that America has degenerated to. It is only 9.5 minutes long and it is actually quite funny!
